EL Phonix aka Will Vee is one of South Africa’s top up and coming producers and DJ’s.
His career in music started when he first set his hands on a pair of decks in Ireland in 2007 and started to mix in the local pub. He then came back to South Africa and did a course in Advanced Music Production in Pretoria. Soon he got a residency at one of Pretoria’s Biggest Night Clubs, Dropzone where he started to get a following of music lovers and fans that loved his mash-up’s with all the latest commercial hits.
From there his career took off when he got rewarded with a 1st runner-up prize for the BPM Annual Remix Comp with the hit from Infected Mushrooms- Smashing the Opponent in 2009 and his love for Dubstep and Drum n Bass showed in his productions that just got better and better. He also had 2 of his remixes selected for the Pioneer DJ Lady Lea Remix Comp top10.
While producing and playing all over South Africa in Gauteng, Capetown and Durban he was also an On-Air radio DJ on one of Capetowns local radio stations as well as TuksFM107.2, the biggest student radio station in the country with a listener base of over 60 000.
EL Phonix also recently took on more projects where he is the manager of a local band called ‘Planet Joy’ and will co-produce their 2nd Album. He has also teamed up with the multi talented Vocalist ‘Je$$’ from the band ‘Skychord’ that just gives his tracks that special edge.
With a well established name in the DnB and Dubstep scene, EL Phonix is set to release his EP in 2011 and do a national tour with some of the other talented DJ’s and Producers in South Africa. But he is not set just for South Africa but globally as well and plans to tour countries like Spain, Australia, United Kingdom and even Ibiza where the dance music scene is so big and diverse, and team up with other great fellow producers.
Some of his influences are the likes of Chase&Status, Nero, Pendulum, The Prodigy, Deadmau5, Wolfgang Gartner, Camo & Krooked and Xilent.
Doing what he loves, with passion and power, EL Phonix is sure a guy took look out for in the future where you will find him at a party near you, dropping his big bass lines, melodic riffs and making love to your eardrums.
